Josh Scott

Josh ScottOver his summer vacation, Josh Scott has been training to start his freshman season on UC Riverside's basketball team. Josh was part of the 2007 State Champion team from O'Dea High School in Seattle and was recruited to play for Riverside. His strength and conditioning coach hooked Josh up with CrossFit Eastside to prepare him for the work that will be required from him as a starter for UCR. Josh Scott dunk!

Josh possesses a rare combination of natural genetic talent, a strong work ethic, and a father who's a professional basketball skills coach. He is a fine young man and a gifted athlete. He will be a force to be reckoned with in the gym and on the court.

Good luck, Josh!

Split jerk

Dip the hip, throw the weight up, and drive the body under the load to a locked-out, straight-arm position overhead. Only, this time, drive the body down under the weight, with one foot forward and one back, into a lunge-like position.

CrossFit - weightlifting, split jerk

Finish to standing by stepping the front foot back and then the back foot forward. The lift is complete when the feet are in the same horizontal plane, with the bar extended overhead.

Push jerk

Jerk variations (push or split) allow us to move greater load in less time. Weight is taken from the racked position on the shoulders to a secure position overhead in a fraction of a second.
